The Taiwan-based shipping company Evergreen plans to invest in a ship expansion which will involve ordering 24 16,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ships.
The order of the new ships will be split across eight and 16 units between South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries and Japan’s Nihon Shipyard.
To date, Evergreen operates across 214 vessels and is anticipating to have two delivered by the end of this year, and a further 22 in 2024.
However, the exact ship delivery dates are uncertain at the moment because the official contracts with the shipyards have not been signed yet, according to Evergreen.
