In an email sent to Prime customers, delivery giant Amazon has implemented a new cost affecting its ‘Same-Day’ delivery.
As of 18th September all orders will automatically be delivered with the ‘fastest available free option’, Amazon told Logistics Manager, with free One-Day delivery unless the customer manually selects the Same-Day delivery option.
The company will charge a £1.99 fee for Same-Day deliveries under £20 even for Prime customers.
Where Prime customers choose One-Day delivery, there will be no additional charge, and orders selected for Same-Day delivery, which exceed the value of £20, will not incur a charge for Prime customers.
The company has said that it has made the move to apply this new charge to ‘improve’ its services.
The retail and delivery giant has faced disruption in recent months as employees at some of its warehouses have gone on strikes, the company earlier this year fired thousands of employees.
